Q & A

1. What are functional foods?

Foods that have a higher nutritional content and serve a greater function then average food items. Functional Foods are nutrient-dense and created with the intention to have a greater impact on your health and well-being.

2. Where are our mushrooms sourced from?

We grow and cultivate several of our mushrooms locally from spore to fruit. For some varieties of mushrooms, we have suppliers. Eventually our goal is to grow a larger variety at our mushroom farm. We process and package our products here on Cortes Island, BC.

3. Are our mushrooms organic?

Although we are not certified organic yet, we do not use pesticides in our cultivation process. We strive to work with and support the environment throughout our whole process.

4. What are medicinal mushrooms & how are they different from magic mushrooms?

Medicinal Mushrooms are mushrooms that are known for their health benefits on the immune, respiratory, cardiovascular and other bodily systems and functions. They act as a companion or alternative to mainstream pharmaceutical medications and can enhance your health and well-being. Medicinal Mushrooms differ from “magic” mushrooms because they do not contain the active psychoactive compound ‘psilocybin’. Therefore you cannot get “high” from Medicinal Mushrooms and they are safe for most people to use daily or regularly as a part of your health regimen.

5. Why choose Fung’Isle?

We are a BC-based business that grow our mushrooms with the environment and local community in mind. When you shop local you are supporting a family business instead of a larger corporation who may not share the same ethical values.

6. Where else can you buy our products?

We have a few retailers that carry our products within BC. We also are at local Farmer’s Markets in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
